Last night in London I was given the award ‘Voice Of A Generation’ by Viva Le Rock magazine. We, Theatre of Hate played a short set of 30 minutes too….
The award was given me by those funsters Dave and Segs of The Ruts. I didn’t think for a minute it would be emotional but after Dave and Segs left the stage, I was faced with a wall of photographers and phones looking up at me…. The sentiment caught up with me at that moment. 
I thanked my sister Jane, brother Milo and all the people who have supported me thruout the years. Without them, I’d have been done for many times over. 
I had no speech written and the award could have simply been a bus ticket back to Brighton but, it was unsuspectingly incredibly moving. 
(I gave the award to my sister at the end of the night)
I must also say an emotional Thankyou to Toyah and Saffron!
Toyah I became friends with 43 years ago when she was in Battersea. She still sparkles like she did decades ago. Brilliant women, her and lovely Saffron.
